Privacy Policy
Folio · Last updated August 7, 2026
Folio (“we”, “the app”) is a personal journal for logging gallery and museum
visits and sharing them with friends. This policy explains what we collect, how
we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information — the email address you sign up with, and a username, display name, and optional profile photo you choose.
- Content you create — photos of artworks, exhibition and gallery names, visit dates, notes, ratings, and bookmarks (“Want to Go”).
- Location — if you grant permission, your approximate device location is used to sort nearby exhibitions and center the map. Photos you import may include location data (EXIF) that is used to place a visit on the map. This stays associated with your account and is not shared publicly.
- Notifications — a push notification token, so we can alert you to likes, comments, and friend activity.
How we use your information
- To provide the core features: logging visits, organizing artworks, mapping where you’ve been, and sharing with friends you connect with.
- To identify artworks. When you capture a photo, the image may be sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to suggest the artist and title. Anthropic processes the image to return a result and does not use it to train its models under our configuration.
- To send notifications you’ve opted into.
Sharing and visibility
- Your visits and posts are visible only to friends you have mutually accepted, unless you mark a visit public. Your username, display name, and profile photo are visible to other users so they can find and add you.
- We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
Service providers
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Expo — delivers push notifications.
- Anthropic — processes artwork photos for identification, as described above.
These providers process data on our behalf to operate the app.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account
from within the app, which removes your profile, visits, artworks, photos, and
bookmarks from our systems. You can also remove individual items at any time.
Your choices
- You can revoke camera, photo, and location permissions in your device settings at any time.
- You can turn off notifications in your device settings.
- You can request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us.
Children
Folio is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last
updated” date above.
